An unintended expatriate blogger behind Atlas Harbor Bloom

Hello, I am Sofia
Project manager. Parent. An expatriate living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much more significant.
The first months were overwhelming — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began to build something that felt stable.
Why I Built Atlas Harbor Bloom
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated only when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Sofia
